Are Women Totally Changing Their Sexual Priorities?

Britney Spears has become the epitome of what most little girls aspire to nowadays. Turn on the TV at any given time during the day and it seems that every show from Sex and the City to the WWE's Monday Night Raw embraces sex, and women having lots of it. And believe you me — sex sells.

The problem with it all is that sex has become less of a sacred experience and more of a bargaining chip. When I was young, my mother always taught me to keep my legs crossed and behave like a lady, but it seems like today's youth gets its education from MTV Janet's chanting about a man's "nice package all right, guess I'm gonna have to ride it tonight." And although Britney alleges that she's a virgin, her actions demonstrate that she's anything but.

So is it a curse or a blessing, this newfound women's freedom when it comes to sex? Honestly, are men happier that sex is more easily attainable and that marriage isn't attached to the scenario (okay, okay)?

Now, having an orgasm is not so much a shot in the dark for women, and men are trying harder than ever (excuse the pun) to keep their women happy in the bedroom. Why? Is it because they truly want to make women happy, or is it because they feel as though they're competing with every other man she's ever slept with?

Perhaps that's why guys always complain that women say that size counts. It does, don't get me wrong, just not in the way that men think it does. Women don't have that "the bigger the better" mentality. We like an adequate size that will satisfy without hurting our insides. But besides that, are women starting to overtake men in the sex department?

Between the e-mail I receive and the women and men I've encountered, it's obvious that lots of women have been giving in to their sexual whims more than ever. I mean, whom are all these men having these one-night stands with anyway? Is it wrong? Or are men happier than ever?

Women have become assertive (maybe even aggressive) in both the boardroom and the bedroom. The problem does not lie in the fact that women have finally demanded their orgasms, but rather that they are placing less and less value on sex and sexual acts.

I used to think that some women mistook sex for love, but I think that a lot of women know exactly what the difference is and simply want to get off. So how does that make men feel? Knowing that there are women out there who think just like you? Women who go out with the intention of meeting a man, and getting him to get her off with no intention of ever seeing him again? Well, it makes me sick when men do it and to be honest, it makes my stomach turn even worse when women do.

why do you think?

I've heard the argument time and time again: "men have been doing it for years, why shouldn't we?" Or, "why is it that when a woman sleeps with a bunch of guys she's a slut, but when a guy does it, he's a stallion?" Because we're women. We have sexual control and until the day when men are the ones who can play hard to get, that's the way things will always be.

Who cares what guys have been doing? Most men I encounter would sleep with a woman on the first night without a second thought, but after they're done, most aren't thinking, "Wow, I bet mom would love her." It seems like men are becoming somewhat more old-fashioned and are looking for a woman who can maintain sexual restraint, yet women are moving into the new millennium with a vengeance.

Women can sleep around without feeling guilty anymore because it's becoming more and more accepted. And having more than one partner in a lifetime is more than fine; it's when women begin sleeping with John, his cousin and his best friend that things start taking a different turn.

love & marriage

Perhaps it's because love and marriage no longer hold the same weight that they once did. After all, women used to depend on men to be the breadwinners while they took care of the home. Women moved from their parents' home into their new husband's home. Now women don't need men; they want them... some for a night, others for a while, one for a lifetime. But no matter the reasons, it doesn't seem like there's any halt in sight.

I sometimes feel like my own desire for marriage and children is somewhat outdated since today's woman is required to be independent and free in virtually every way. It seems that women have had enough of being the ones who always end up in pain and agony over losing a man, and some have managed to turn off their deep emotions and turn on their own sexual radars.

Are men happy that women have this spanking new sexual independence, in which they can sleep with men and not expect or require a commitment? Or would guys prefer that ladies keep their underwear on long enough to figure out that you always leave the toilet seat up?

My mother informed me that what happens today used to happen in her day as well, the difference is that it wasn't aired on television for the entire world to see. But the other day, as I turned on the box to see what was going on, it saddened me to see that The Maury Povich Show (a talk show) had women on the program who requested DNA tests because they weren't sure who the father of their child was. Perhaps birth control pills and adequate protection would've come in handy at the time this unfortunate child was conceived.

There is no doubt that women have come a long way — we are climbing up those corporate ladders, raising families, and doing our best as humans — but have we forgotten that we are ladies? We still have sexual power, and although some women think that they're getting one step closer to being at the same level as men by behaving in sexually promiscuous manners, in reality they are only perpetuating their demise.

But I am an eternal optimist and believe that women's sexual evolution is not all bad, and while some men and women care not about whom they lay down with, others still place a high value on sexuality and won't give away their orgasms to just anyone.

So gentlemen, protect yourselves at all time, and start doing that by getting yourself some free condoms
